Condolence: I met Larry on a chairlift at WVBBTS Master's training. In fact, I only spoke with Larry on a chairlift, race slope or lodge...but mostly on the lift. We had many deeply academic, spirited discussions ranging a wide array of topics that only geeks like me can appreciate. Larry knew a lot about a lot. At times I thought he was a political science professor, a ski technician, sports commentator or biophysics speculator. Apparently he was an engineer...who knew.

I truly appreciated the limited time I had with Larry. He embodied too many things to mention and yet I began to understand him very well in yet a matter of minutes. I was always heartened to see him on the slopes and even more impressed when he remembered me and the specifics of our last conversation...often separated by 6 months of summer weather.

Larry, I will miss you in ways that are unjust for the limited time I spent in your orbit. Be well on that snowy peak...I'll be there soon!

Condolence: My condolences to the family. We all met once, in 1980 at Aunt Lorna's fiftieth anniversary party. I'm your father's first cousin, youngest child of Verna Long. It sounds like your father was a very special man with many passions in life.
Sincerely,

Condolence: My brother John and I stopped in to visit Larry in June at Kimball Farms and had a nice walk around the facility and talk with him. He certainly was a wonderful man and will be missed by all who knew him.

I had planned on stopping in to see you all this afternoon and unfortunately just missed it -

Our sincerest sympathy to all of you.

Condolence: I am very sorry to hear of you dad's passing. I knew him as a boy growing up in Pittsfield. We shared the same neighborhood (I lived on Concord Pkwy). He and my dad worked at GE and then there was tennis. He was always so nice to us kids and was a man that we all respected. He was a man of standing in our community and set a good example of what youngsters should be when they grow up.
God's Blessings and peace to you all.

Condolence: To the entire Voelker family,

I was saddened to learn that Larry had taken that last chairlift ride and although many years have passed since we taught skiing together,he was a mentor to me and the coach of the D-team which my sister,Gwen was a part of.
I will always remember him as a gentleman with a twinkle in his eye and the loss is heaven's gain.

He will be fondly remembered.
