Obituary for Lawrence D. Lahue

LAWRENCE DARWIN LAHUE, 83, of 226 Onota Street, Pittsfield, died Thursday night at Berkshire Medical Center.Born in Richford, Vermont, July 20, 1923, a son of Percy D. and Florence B.
Wright Lahue, he was educated in Richford, Vermont, public schools.
A World War II veteran, he served as a Corporal in the Untied States Army from
October 14, 1942, to November 5, 1945, and was stationed in Normandy and Northern
France, and was discharged with the American Theater Campaign Ribbon and the
European Afucan Middle Eastern Theater Campaign Ribbon, the Good Conduct Medal
and the Victory Medal.
Mr. Lahue was employed as an auto mechanic and auto body repairman with the
former Pittsfield Milk Exchange where he worked for 15 years. He then worked as a
machine operator with Kimberly Clark Corporation in Lee where he worked for 18 years,
retiring in 1985.He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 448. He considered
himself a proud supporter of the Massachusetts Lottery Commission from which he
purchased scratch tickets.
Mr. Lahue leaves his wife of 59 years, the former Winifred A. Hayward, whom he married November 16, 1946.Besides his wife, Mr. Lahue was survived by a son, David L. Lahue of Hudson
Falls, New York, a daughter, Carole L. Chaperon of Cheshire; four grandchildren and
two great grandchildren.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for LAWRENCE DARWIN LAHUE, who died Thursday,
July 27, will be Monday, July 31, at 8:00 p.m., at DERY FUNERAL HOME, with
Rev. Canon Hannah Anderson, Rector ofSt. Stephen's Episcopal Church,
officiating. Calling hours will be Monday, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., at the Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mr. Lahue may be made to Pulmonary
Fibrosis Foundation in care of the Funeral Home, 54 Bradford Street, Pittsfield.
Mr. Lahue is survived by his daughter-in-law, Jean M. Lahue, his son-in-law,
Robert Chaperon, his granddaughter and her husband, Erica J. and Brian Reu; his
grandson, Steven R. Crittendon, and his fiancee, Carol Fournier, and grandsons,
David Lahue and Todd Lahue, children of David and Jean Lahue, and great grand
children, and Samantha and Patrick, children of Erica and Brian Reu, as well as
numerous nieces and nephews.
