Obituary for Karl A. Joppich

: Karl August Joppich, 79, of 356 Wells Road, Cheshire, Ma. died Wednesday at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield. Born on April 15, 1928 in Adams, Ma. a son of the late August and Maria Kabierske Joppich. He attended schools in Adams and Cheshire, Ma. He had served with the United States Army during the Korean War Conflict. A lifelong resident of Cheshire, Ma. He was last employed for the General Electric Company as a crane operator for 20 years retiring from the Power Transformer Dept. in 1987. Prior to working at GE, he had been employed at Arnold Print Works in Adams and Lamb's Garage in Cheshire. Also at the time of his death, Mr. Joppich ran the family farm on Wells Rd. in Cheshire all his life. He was a communicant of Saint Mary of the Assumption Church, a member of the National Rifle Assoc. and AARP. He enjoyed hunting, motorcycling, traveling and working on mechanical equipment. His wife the former Marie "Peanie" Bona whom he married September 27, 1952 died October 24, 1986. He leaves a daughter, Karen M. Luczynski of Cheshire, Ma. Three sons, Paul S. Mark A. and Joseph A. Joppich all of Cheshire, Ma. Five Grandchildren and Three Step Grandchildren. His longtime companion Alvina Turoczy of Adams, Ma.


FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for Karl A. Joppich who died Oct. 17, 2007 will be held Monday at 9:15A.M. from the DERY-CHESHIRE FUNERAL HOME, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:00 A.M. at Saint Mary of the Assumption Church in Cheshire, celebrated by the Rev. David Raymond, pastor. Burial will follow in Cheshire Cemetery. Calling hours will be Sunday at the funeral home from 4 to 7 P.M. In lieu of flowers memorials in his memory may be made to the Cheshire Fire Dept. in care of the funeral home. Karl is lovingly survived by his grandchildren, Trevor, Heather and Ryan Joppich, Matthew and Nathan Luczynski, Nolan, Aaron and Zachery Brassard. His longtime companion, Alvina Turoczy, his son in law, Timothy Luczynski and daughter in law Rebecca Joppich. Also survived by longtime friends and neighbors, Nelson Aubin and Stephen Bondini. He was predeceased by his sister, Marianne J. Truran in 2003 and by his daughter in law MaryAnn Polumbo-Joppich in 1998. He enjoyed watching his grandson Ryan play football and baseball games and spending time with his family and his dog Chloe
