Condolence: Each day is a gift from God. While we don't get to decide how many days are
given us, we can decide what to do with
those days we have.
Although his time on earth was much to short, John had decided what to do with
God's gift.
John followed his passion for cars and all things mechanical all his life.
The only thing that eclipsed his love
for cars was his love for family and friends. John was a dedicated husband,
father, and a dutiful son. If John was
your friend, you had a friend for life.
John was a car wizard. He took the shell of an old '48 Ford Coupe that was
becoming part of the landscape, and a home for wayward squirrels, and turned it into an eye popping sleek black con-
vertible. He chauffeured Irene and I at
our wedding.
John was a fighter to the end. His persistence and the willpower that he used to build his cars, and the love he had for family and friends aided him with battle with cancer.
John's life was inspiration to us all.
We should be thankful for each day we
have, and use the time given us by God
wisely.
That's what my cousin John did.

Condolence: My thoughts and prayers go out to the Lafayette family during this most difficult time. I worked with John for a time at GD until he went to OP-3 and found him to be a great guy who talked about his family and cars all the time. He will definitely be missed by many.
