Obituary for Charles P. Fezzie

CHARLES P. FEZZIE, 92, formerly of 32 McArthur Street, Pittsfield, died Sunday at Hillcrest Commons where he had resided for two weeks. For the past seven months, he had lived at Melbourne Place.Born in Lee, on June 29, 1915, the son of Dominic and Maria Ricci Fezzie, he was forced to quit school after the 11th grade because of the Depression. He then joined the Civilian Conservation Corps where he worked at the Pittsfield State Forest and for three years in National Parks in Oregon. In later life, he took night courses through the Pittsfield Public Schools and received his high school diploma in 1961.Mr. Fezzie was employed as a welder at the General Electric Company for 36 years, retiring in 1977.He was a communicant of St. Mark Church. He was an active member of the
Pittsfield Senior Center, a member of the Golden Seniors, and went on many trips. He was also a member of the G.E.A.A. Tennis Club. He also enjoyed volleyball, gardening, and was an avid reader of many topics.
His wife, the former Catherine M. Marra, whom he married October 8, 1937,
died October 20, 2006.
Mr. Fezzie is survived by a son, Charles A. "Butch" Fezzie, of Richmond, two
brothers, Frank Fezzie of Kingsport, Tennessee, and Thomas Fezzie of Albuquerque, New Mexico; two sisters, Angelina Lingoski and Claire Dodge, both of Pittsfield; four grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren. He was pre-deceased by a son, Paul F. Fezzie who died in 1986.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for CHARLES PETER FEZZIE, who died Sunday, October 14. will be Wednesday, October 17, at 9:15 a.m., from DERY FUNERAL HOME, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m., at St. Mark Church, celebrated by Rev. John C. Salatino, Pastor. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours will be today, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mr. Fezzie may be made to HospiceCare in The Berkshires in care of the
Funeral Home, 54 Bradford Street, Pittsfield.
Mr. Fezzie is also survived by his daughter-in-law, Martha Fezzie, his grand-
children, Charles A. Fezzie, Jr., William F. Fezzie, Carmen Fezzie, and Monique
Honiker; his great grandchildren, Charles, Aileen, Dominic, Elizabeth, Madeline, and
Catherine Fezzie, and Michael and Clarissa Honiker, as well as his extended family,
The Gearys.
