Obituary for Angelo R. Stracuzzi

ANGELO ROCCO STRACUZZI, 80, of Richmond Road, Hancock, died Sunday, December 2, at Berkshire Medical Center.
Born in Pittsfield, March 17, 1927, the son of Joseph and Antoinette Intelisano
Stracuzzi, he was educated in Pittsfield schools.
A World War II veteran, he served in the United States Navy from May 4, 1944
to May 25, 1946, discharged with the rank of Seaman First Class.
Mr. Stracuzzi was employed by the City of Pittsfield Department of Public Works
where he was foreman of the Highway Department, leading and paving and plowing
crews for a number of years. He retired on April 3, 1992 with 28 years service. Prior to
his employment with the City, he worked in his brother's contracting business, V. J.
Stracuzzi contracting. Prior to that, he had worked at General Electric Company.
He was a member of the Elks Club's Tuesday night pitch league for more than
twenty years. He was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox and watched every game on
TV. He and his late brother, Sam, who was an avid Yankees fan would often spar over
the Red Sox and Yankees. His pride and joy was working around his farm and working
with all his equipment.
Mr. Stracuzzi leaves his wife, the former Loretta Dorgan of Pittsfield. He was
pre-deceased by his first wife, Connie Iorio Stracuzzi, mother of Angelo, Anthony, and
Donna. Besides his wife, he is survived by three sons, Angelo C. Stracuzzi, Anthony C.
Stracuzzi, and John A. Stracuzzi; a daughter, Donna M. Smith, all of Pittsfield; eight
grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

FUNERAL NOTICE:Funeral services for ANGELO ROCCO STRACUZZI, who died Sunday,
December 2, will be Thursday, December 6, at 10:00 a.m., at DERY FUNERAL HOME,
with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m., at St. Charles Church, celebrated by Rev.
Peter A. Gregory, Pastor. Burial will follow St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours
will be Wednesday, at 4:00 to 8:00 p.m, at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers,
contributions in memory of Mr. Stracuzzi may be made to B.M.C. Cardiac Rehab Unit in
care of the Funeral Home, 54 Bradford Street, Pittsfield.
Mr. Stracuzzi also leaves daughters-in-law, Rosanne Sokolowski Stracuzzi and
Kim Phillips Stracuzzi; a son-in-law, Ronald J. Smith; eight grandchildren, Holly,
Angela, Tina, Paula, Renee, Tony, Justin, and Jason, and five great grandchildren, Jonah,
Bryce, Gabe, Samantha, and Casey. He was pre-deceased by five brothers, Vincent,
Rosario, Joseph, Samuel, and Anthony.
