Obituary for Yormary Shogren
Yormary Shogren, 57, passed away December 24, 2020 at her home, surrounded by her family, after an eleven-month battle with brain cancer.
Born in Quipile, Columbia, Yormary emigrated to America in 2001. She loved learning, spending many years attending Berkshire Community College where she reached her dream of becoming a nurse.
Yormary worked for many years in the health care industry. She worked as an Aide, CNA, Medical Assistant and an LPN. She worked many years for Berkshire Health Systems. She last worked for HospiceCare in the Berkshires as an LPN.
Yormary loved the outdoors. An avid hiker, she hiked many of the high peaks in the northeast, hiking Mt. Washington in New Hampshire, seven times. Her favorite local hike was to the cobbles in Cheshire, she tried to hike it every day.
Yormary leaves behind her husband Erik, son Camilo and his wife Zulma, all of Cheshire, also her brothers, Polo, Octavio, and Mario, and sisters, Blanca and Nohelia, all living in Columbia. Also many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her father, Ezequile Reyes, her mother, Rosa Valbuena Reyes, brother Gilberto and her sisters, Gladys Reyes.
Yormary will always be remembered for her caring nature and her smile.
There will be no formal services. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to HospiceCare in the Berkshires in care of DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford St, Pittsfield, MA 01201.
