Obituary for William H. Squires Jr.

William H. Squires Jr., 86, of 350 West Street passed away on Friday, September 16, 2016 at Berkshire Medical Center. Born on January 20, 1930 in Pittsfield, he was the son of the late William H. Squires Sr. and the late Mary Daly Squires. A lifelong Pittsfield resident, he was educated in Berlin, NY schools. He was predeceased by his wife, the late Charlotte Bourdon Squires who died June 6, 1996. Bill proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War. He was employed as a glazer for twenty years at the former Pittsburgh Plate Glass and at various Berkshire County glass shops. He retired in 1992. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting and fishing. In his younger years he was an avid boxer and was a middle weight champion while in the service. During his high school years he was a scouted baseball player by various major League baseball teams. He was also an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox. He leaves his longtime companions; Teresa Brillant and her daughter; Winifred Elliot of Pittsfield. Two sons; Earl H. Squires and Buzz Squires both of Pittsfield. Five brothers; James, Richard, and Robert Squires all of Pittsfield, Michael Squires of Colorado and David Squires of Arizona. He also leaves his sister; Mary Squires of Pittsfield and many grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother; the late Jack Squires.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for William H. Squires Jr. of Pittsfield who passed away September 16, 2016 will be held Thursday at 11:00 AM at the DERY FUNERAL HOME in Pittsfield. There are no calling hours. Burial will be private. Memorial donations in memory of Bill may be made to the St. Mark Church Food Pantry in care of the funeral home, 54 Bradford St. Pittsfield, MA 01201.
