Obituary for William F. Mufatti Sr.

WILLIAM FRANCIS MUFATTI, SR., 80, of 38 Shetland Drive, Pittsfield, died
peacefully on Sunday, March 16, surrounded by his loving family, at the Vermont
Veterans Home in Bennington, Vermont, where he had resided the past two years.
Born in West Hartford, Connecticut, September 19, 1927, the son of Abramo
and Jennie Giordano Mufatti, he was a graduate of Classical High School in Springfield.
In 1945, he joined the United States Coast Guard and served for one year during
World War II. In 1947, he attended Worcester Polytechnic Institute graduating with a
degree in chemical engineering in 1951. After graduating WPI, he joined the United
States Navy as a Lieutenant JG serving two years during the Korean War. Upon
discharge, he remained the in the Navy Reserve during which time he was promoted to
Captain. Mr. Mufatti obtained his law degree form Western New England College School
of Law and became a member of the Massachusetts Bar in 1963. He was employed at
Monsanto Chemical Company while attending WNEC.
In 1967, Mr. Mufatti became employed as Patent Counsel for General Electric
Plastics later becoming Senior Counsel. He retired from G.E. Plastics in 1993. He joined
the law firm of Cain, Hibbard, Myers & Cook in 1993 where he was head of the
intellectual property and licensing group. He was a member of the Massachusetts and
Berkshire Bar Associations.
Mr. Mufatti was a communicant of St. Teresa Church. He served on the Board of Directors at Berkshire County Association for
Retarded Citizens. He was also on the Board of Directors at Greylock Federal Credit
Union. He was a member of UNICO and of the Country Club of Pittsfield.
He enjoyed sailing, golfing, and traveling.
Mr. Mufatti leaves his wife, the former June L. Aromando, whom he married
May 1, 1954, at St. Mary's Church in Shrewsbury, Massachusetts.
Besides his wife, he is survived by a son, William F. Mufatti, Jr., of Nassau, New
York; a daughter, LeeAnn Zucco and her husband, Ronald, of Dalton; a granddaughter,
Jessica N. Zerbato and her husband, Jason, of Pittsfield, and a great granddaughter,
Makayla Zerbato.

FUNERAL NOTICE:Funeral services for WILLIAM FRANCIS MUFATTI, SR., will be today, March
18, at 10:30 a.m, from DERY FUNERAL HOME, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at
11:15 a.m., at St. Teresa Church, 290 South Street, Pittsfield, celebrated by Rev. Mark
Mengel, S.S.C., Pastor. Burial will be private at the Massachusetts Veterans Cemetery in
Agawam. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mr. Mufatti may be made to
Pittsfield Chapter of UNICO or to the Vermont Veterans Home, both in care of the
Funeral Home, 54 Bradford Street, Pittsfield.
