Obituary for William Joseph Morrison
William "Willie" Joseph Morrison, 59, of 12 August Smith Road, Peru, died
Thursday, November 22, 2012, at home surrounded by his loving family, after a brief
battle with cancer.
Born in Great Barrington on February 22, 1953, the son of the late George and Janice Card Morrison, he was educated in West Stockbridge schools and received an associate's degree in visual arts from Berkshire Community College; following graduation he had worked for Lipton Steel.
Mr. Morrison was most recently employed as a welder for Berkshire Mechanical
Corporation in Lee where he had worked ten years until 2009. He had previously
been employed by Crane & Company and Beloit-Jones.
He was an outdoorsman who enjoyed carving. He had an extensive collection of music and enjoyed reading as well. He also enjoyed taking care of his home and property, and was a family man who was adored by all who knew him.
Mr. Morrison leaves his wife, the former Laura A. Dunlop.
Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, Jason M. Allain and his fiancée Kylie Ungewitter of Pittsfield, and Dylan J. Morrison of Peru; and a granddaughter, Olivia Allain.
He was pre-deceased by his sister, Mary Delgrande.
FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for William J. Morrison will be held Wednesday, November 28,
at 5:00 PM, at DERY-FOLEY FUNERAL HOME, 890 East Main St., Dalton with Rev. Robert Rennie, Chaplain with HospiceCare in The Berkshires, officiating. A Benefit and Celebration of Mr. Morrison's life will be held Saturday, December 1, from 1:00 to 10:00 PM, at the Hinsdale Home Club. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mr. Morrison may be made at the benefit to help support the family.
