Obituary for William F. McMahon

William Francis McMahon, 61, of 16 Plunkett Street, Pittsfield, died Wednesday, October 12,
2016, at his home with his family by his side.
Born in Pittsfield on May 25, 1955, the son of Ruth Newman McMahon and the late Francis
P. McMahon, he was a graduate of St. Joseph Central High School.
Mr. McMahon enlisted with the United States Army on February 2, 1977. There, as a Private First Class, he was trained and served as a Food Service Specialist. He was honorably discharged on February 1, 1980.
His military training and experience became his career. Mr. McMahon was employed as a
cook at several local restaurants, but most notably at Hillcrest Hospital and the Hot Dog Ranch. He also spent time working as a custodian at St. Mark Middle School.
He was a sports enthusiast, especially baseball, basketball, and football, and was a member
of the Monday Morning Quarterback Club. He enjoyed fishing. He also enjoyed spending time with his dogs, Joey and Kate.
Mr. McMahon leaves his wife, the former Irene L. Ziemlak, whom he married October 15,
1983. Besides his wife and his mother, he is survived by two daughters, Shannon McMahon of Adams, Casandra Magner and her significant other, Jason LaBarre, of Pittsfield; a son, Andrew J. McMahon of Pittsfield; two sisters, Kathy Johnson of Algonquin, Illinois and Lorrie McMahon of Westfield; a brother Larry McMahon and his wife, Jean, of Lee; as well as several nieces and nephews.


FUNERAL NOTICE:
Funeral services for William Francis McMahon will be held Wednesday, October 19, at
1:00 p.m., at DERY FUNERAL HOME in Pittsfield with Rev. Peter A. Gregory, Pastor of St. Charles Church, officiating. Calling hours will precede the service beginning at 12 Noon. A celebration of life for all friends and family, will take place following the service at 3pm at the Polish Falcons Club, 32 Bel Air Ave.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Boys and Girls Club or to
HospiceCare in The Berkshires, both in care of the Funeral Home, 54 Bradford Street, Pittsfield.
