Obituary for William "Luke" Turbeville

William ‘Luke’ Turbeville, 92 of Pittsfield, passed away January 29, 2023 at Berkshire Medical Center.

Born in Raleigh, NC on March 28, 1930, he was the son of Joseph and Kathleen Lucas Turbeville.

He was raised in Tampa FL and a 1958 graduate of the University of Florida after serving in the Navy. Mr. Turbeville was a United States Navy Veteran and served during the Korean War.

He married Charlotte Brashear on January 13, 1961. She predeceased him on March 2, 2016.

He was an electrical engineer for Martin Marietta and General Electric. His work took him to various locations including Cape Canaveral where he worked on all the Apollo Missions. Those missions included the Apollo 11 mission which was Captained by Neil Armstrong the first man to walk on the moon.

He enjoyed sailing, golfing, gardening, was on the Richmond Volunteer Fire Department and was a Florida Gators fan.

William is survived by his daughter, Kimberley J. Munch and son Timothy A. Turbeville of Sandwich, MA., as well as six grandchildren and several nephews and nieces.

He was predeceased by his daughter Kelly Fairbank on September 7, 2019.

Calling hours will be held Friday, February 10, 2023 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Dery Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his name to the American Heart Association in care of Dery Funeral Home, 54 Bradford St, Pittsfield, MA 01201.
