Obituary for William M. Landry

William M. Landry, 90, of 45 Main Street, Sugar Hill, in Dalton died June 9, 2016 at Springside of Pittsfield. Born on July 6, 1925 in Dalton, he was the son of the late Timothy and Anna Kirk Landry. A longtime Dalton resident, he was educated in Dalton schools and was a 1943 graduate of the former Dalton High School. He proudly served his country during World War II with the United States Army. He married his wife, the late Shirley Pierce Calkins Landry on February 11, 1974. She died on September 29, 2000. Mr. Landry was employed in the shipping department at Crane & Company at the Stationary Division for twenty-six years. He retired in 1987. He had also worked at the Dalton General Store after the war. He was a communicant of St. Agnes Church. He enjoyed reading, traveling and golf. He was an avid fan of the New England Patriots. He leaves his sister; Marie Virgilio of Pittsfield. A step-son; Leslie J. Calkins and his wife Diane of Dalton and his step-daughter; Joyce Ryan and her husband Jeff of Southampton, MA. Ten grandchildren; Thomas Calkins, James Calkins, Gregg Calkins, Jennifer Calkins, Breanne Calkins, Stacie Ryan, Heather Wortel, Bethany Ryan, John Ryan and Nathan Ryan. Two nieces; Ann Adams of Pittsfield and Nancy Taylor of Dalton. Two grandnieces; Gina Lucido of Holyoke and Tynette Laston of Pittsfield. He also leaves his dear friends; Margherita Lombardi of Dalton and Jim Marshall of Chicago, IL and many great nieces and great grandchildren. He was predeceased by a granddaughter; Caitlyn Ryan and by a niece; Joanne Kurpiel.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for William M. Landry of Dalton who died June 9, 2016 will be held Tuesday at 9:15 AM from the DERY-FOLEY FUNERAL HOME in Dalton followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at St. Agnes Church celebrated by the Rev. Christopher Malatesta, pastor. Burial with military honors will follow in Fairview Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Monday from 4 to 7 PM at the funeral home in Dalton. Memorial donations in memory of Bill may be made to the Dalton Free Public Library in care of the funeral home, 890 Main Street, Dalton, MA 01226. w
