Obituary for William M. Goddard Sr.

William Moody Goddard, Sr., 74, of 385 Longview Avenue, Hinsdale, died Tuesday, January 21, 2014, at Berkshire Medical Center.
Born in Waterville, Maine, on August 16, 1939, a son of John M. and Lucille Cote Goddard, he was a 1958 graduate of Stockbridge High School where he was President of the Future Farmers of America.
Mr. Goddard served with the United States Marine Corps from 1958 to 1962 during the Cuban
Missile Crisis.
At the time of his death, Mr. Goddard was the Superintendent of Buildings and Ground at Camp Romaca in Hinsdale where he had been employed the past fifty-one years.During the 1970s, he built houses. He and a partner started Yankee Septic Tank Services which he sold in the 1990s.
He and his wife were the proprietors of Mountain Brook Bed and Breakfast in Hinsdale.
Active in his community, as well, Mr. Goddard served as the Hinsdale Building Inspector for more than twenty five years and as the Health Inspector for more than thirty years. He also served as the Water Commissioner and on the Conservation Commission.
He enjoyed carpentry, pruning trees, and rebuilding antique tractors with his son.
Mr. Goddard leaves his wife, the former Donna Carole Fabrizio, whom he married March 7,
1964. He is also survived by a son, William M. Goddard, Jr., and his wife, Alysa, of Hinsdale; a daughter,
Deneen Goddard and her partner, Lisa Dickerson, of Atlanta, Georgia; three brothers, Joel Goddard of
Hinsdale, Johnny Goddard of Agawam, and Edward Goddard of Hinsdale; four grandchildren, Katrina,
Cassondra, Morgaine, and William Patrick; as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was pre-deceased by a sister, Joanne Goddard Monteleone.
The family wishes to express much thanks to the Berkshire Health Systems staff.

FUNERAL NOTICE:
Funeral services with military honors for William Moody Goddard, Sr., will be held Friday, January 24, at 11:00 a.m., at the First Congregational Church in Hinsdale, with his great niece, Rev. Jennifer Kimball, officiating. Calling hours will be Thursday, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., at the DERY-
FUNERAL HOME IN Dalton. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hinsdale
Volunteer Fire Department in care of the Funeral Home, 890 East Main Street, Dalton.
