Obituary for William R Dimanche

William Robert Dimanche, 83, of Epworth Arms, Pittsfield, died Tuesday, July 22, 2014, at
Berkshire Medical Center.
Born in Dalton on November 14, 1930, the son of Delphine and Helen King Dimanche, he attended Dalton schools and was a graduate of St. Joseph Central High School. He attended Berkshire
Community College and also took the Dale Carnegie course.
He served with the United States Army.
Mr. Dimanche was employed in the Power Transformer Department at General Electric Company for 30 years.
He was a communicant of St. Mark Church and was a member of the Berkshire County Deputy Sheriffs' Association.
Mr. Dimanche had a special place in his heart for children. He was a member of Big Brothers-
Big Sisters, hosted Fresh Air Children in the 1960s, and had been a foster parent. He also coached baseball and basketball at the Catholic Youth Center.
As a cancer survivor, he was a proud participant in many Relay for Life walks.
A faithful fan of all the Boston sports teams, he was particularly devoted to the Red Sox. He enjoyed bowling, hunting and fishing, boating, playing horseshoes, and going to Tanglewood.
Mr. Dimanche's wife, the former Joanne M. Squires, died June 4, 2000.
Mr. Dimanche leaves a daughter, Deborah A. Hicks and her husband, Brian, of Cheshire; a son,
Michael Dimanche of Lebanon Springs, N.Y., a sister, Nancy Prezenik of Pittsfield; a brother, Ronald
Dimanche of Pittsfield; eight grandchildren, Brian, Melinda, Michael, Becky, Angela, Brianna, Danielle,
and Jenna, and two great grandchildren, Aidan and Riley.
He was pre-deceased by a son, William R. Dimanche, Jr.

FUNERAL NOTICE:
Funeral services for William Robert Dimanche will be held Saturday, July 26, at 8:15 a.m., from
DERY FUNERAL HOME in Pittsfield with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9:00 a.m., at St. Mark Church celebrated by Rev. John C. Salatino, Pastor. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours will be Friday, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society in care of the Funeral Home, 54 Bradford Street, Pittsfield.
