Obituary for Wayne Chisum

Wayne Chisum, 77, of 60 Franklin Street, Dalton, Ma. a loving husband, father, and was delighted in his grandchildren and great grandchildren died Friday, May 10, 2013 at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield. Born on July 24, 1935 in Comanche, Oklahoma a son of the late J.B. and Opal Ella Hughes Chisum. He was a graduate of Comanche, Oklahoma High School and attended Holyoke Community College and A.I.C. in Springfield, Ma. He was a United States Navy Air Force Veteran. Wayne was a systems analyst for Crane & Company in Dalton, Ma. for many years and retired in 1997. He was a member of the Dalton Lions Club, he volunteered at the Dalton Food Pantry and for Habitat for Humanity. He was a member of Saint Stephen's Episcopal Church and enjoyed watching sporting events on television, walking with friends and spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife the former Elizabeth Mae Woods whom he married on November 26, 1959 at Church of the Good Shepard, West Springfield, Ma. Three sons, Michael Chisum and wife Jennifer of Oakland, Maine, John Chisum of Peru, Ma. and Jamie Chisum and wife Kristin of Wayland, Ma. A daughter, Mary Anne White and husband Michael of Brattleboro, Vermont. Three brothers, Bill Chisum of Comanche, Ok. Don Chisum and Sam Chisum both of Duncan, Ok. A sister, Nancy Zumwalt of Oklahoma City, Ok. Sister in law, Anne Woods of Agawam, Ma. Eight Grandchildren and 3 Great Grandchildren. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Pearlie Beck.

Funeral Notice: Funeral services for Wayne Chisum will be held Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at 9:00 a.m. at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, East St. Pittsfield, Ma. With the Rev. Ann Broomell Interim Rector officiating. Burial will be private at the Massachusetts Veterans Cemetery in Agawam, Ma. Calling hours at DERY-FOLEY FUNERAL HOME 890 East Main St. Dalton, Ma. will be Monday from 4 to 7 P.M. In lieu of flowers memorials in his memory may be made to St. Stephen's Table. Dalton Food Pantry or Lions Club of Dalton, all in care of the funeral home.
