Obituary for Warren F. Munson
Warren F. Munson died September 10, 2008 after a brief illness.
Born February 21, 1917 to Laura Verroneau Munson and Daniel Munson in Pittsfield, MA he is a graduate of Pittsfield High School and Wilbraham Academy. As one of the early graduates of General Electric's Financial Management Program, Warren worked his entire career in a variety of financial management positions and retired after 32 years.
While in Pittsfield, he met and married Janet Boldyga on October 18, 1942 and had three sons: Michael, Peter, and Daniel. She preceded him in death on April 1, 1980.
With a great sense of humor, he approached life with a smile that lit up a room. He had a knack for story telling recalling the smallest details to bring even more color to his stories. As an avid golfer he achieved one of golf's finest moments with a hole-in-one.
Before retiring permanently in Sarasota FL, he met and married Dona Chase-Drysdale with whom he celebrated a happy 24-year marriage.
Preceding Warren in death in addition to his wife, Janet, are his parents, and sister Marguerite Helfrich. He is survived by his wife Dona, his brother Wallace, all three of his sons, Dona's children Cynthia, Sandra, and James; daughters'-in-law Kathryn and Amy; eleven grandchildren: Michele Moskal, Mark, Katrina, Laura, Christopher, Tristan, Kenis, Taylor, Kia, Samantha, and Shaila, and three great-grandchildren: Nathan, Eric, and Blake.
Friends and family may pay their condolences at Dery Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 24 from 12:00 p.m. - 1:30 p.m. This will be followed by internment at St. Joseph's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Tidewell Hospice and Palliative Care, 5957 Rand Boulevard, Sarasota, FL 34238.
