Obituary for Vito A. Penna

Vito Anthony Penna, 90, of 39 State Street, Pittsfield, died Friday, May 13, 2016, at
Berkshire Place.
Born in Pittsfield on March 30, 1926, the son of Joseph and Elizabeth Sinopoli Penna,
he attended local schools.
A World War II veteran, Mr. Penna was inducted into the United States Navy on
October 26, 1944, served aboard the U.S.S. Duluth, and was honorably discharged with the rank of Seaman First Class on July 5, 1946.
Following military duty, Mr. Penna went to work for General Electric Company where he was a winder in the Power Transformer Department. He retired in 1986 with forty years service. In his earlier years, he worked for Donovan Construction.
Mr. Penna was a communicant of St. Mark Church and served as a Eucharistic Minister and Altar Server, and also helped with bingo.
He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially with his brothers and his grand-children, as well as gardening and playing bocce.
Mr. Penna's wife, the former Tetina Gertrude Grosso, died November 26, 2013.
Mr. Penna is survived by two daughters, Dyane Hogue and her husband, Michael, of
Pittsfield, and Teresa O'Brient and her husband, Alan, of Stockbridge; three sisters, Anne Winters of Florida, Betty Froio and her husband, Richard, of Pittsfield, and Rose Pochinchuk and her husband, Jim, of Pittsfield; five grandchildren, Sarah Hogue and Michael Hogue, Sam O'Brient and Luke O'Brient, and Daniel Curley; and one great granddaughter, Carolyn Palmer.

FUNERAL NOTICE:
Funeral services for Vito Anthony Penna will be held Monday, May 16, with a Liturgy of
Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m., at St. Mark Church celebrated by Rev. John C. Salatino, Pastor.
Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers,
memorial contributions may be made to HospiceCare in The Berkshires in care of DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford Street, Pittsfield.
