Obituary for Virginia P. Walsh

Virginia P. Walsh 92, formerly of 60 Dalton Division Road, Dalton, died Thursday, April 7, 2016, at Craneville Place surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Pittsfield on April 26, 1923, the daughter of Harold G. Oles, Sr. and Sarah Benson
Oles. She was a 1941 graduate of Dalton High School and attended St. Margaret Nursing School
in Albany. Mrs. Walsh had been a nurse at the former Pittsfield General Hospital (now Berkshire
Medical Center) and had also worked for The Crane Family of Dalton.
Her nursing personality extended to caring for many other people, as she did door-to-
door collecting for organizations, such as the American Heart Association.
She loved to cook and enjoyed her desserts, especially ice cream and lemon meringue pie. She had an amazing memory, was a crackerjack rummy 500 player, and enjoyed playing pitch and checkers, as well. She was an avid reader of murder mysteries. She also had a love for animals.
Her husband of 42 years, Robert E. Walsh, whom she married in St. Agnes Church,
died November 16, 1995.
Mrs. Walsh is survived by a daughter, Virginia C. Caulk of Dalton, and her son,
Tom E. Caulk of Dalton and grandson Toby E. Simone of Ohio; a son, Robert E. Walsh and his wife, Kathleen, of Dalton; a son, Michael G. Walsh, Sr., and his wife, Pamela, of Dalton, and their Children, Michael G. Walsh, Jr., and his wife, Melinda, and their son, Finlay, Joshua T.
Walsh, and his wife, Moira, and their children Wyatt and Willa, Travis R. Walsh and his wife,
Emily; a daughter, Jean M. Plankey and her husband Marty, of Pittsfield and his children Mindi Ennis and her husband Dan and Brian Plankey;
Virginia is also survived by her loving sister, June Munson and her husband Dave, of Enfield, CT., and their daughter, Julie Fleck and her husband Louis and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by her brother Harold G. Oles Jr.
The family would like to thank the staff at Craneville Place for their compassionate care of Virginia during her illness, and they would also like to thank Dr. John Burnham and Dr. Thomas Vaughn for their wonderful medical care of Virginia over the last twenty years.

FUNERAL NOTICE – Funeral Services for Virginia P. Walsh 92, who died April 7th, will be held on Monday April 11th at 10 a.m. at the DERY-FOLEY FUNERAL HOME, 890 E. Main Street, Dalton, MA, celebrated by the Rev. Christopher A. Malatesta, pastor of St. Agnes Church. There are no calling hours. Burial will follow in the family plot at St. Joseph Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations in Virginia's memory can be made to Hospicecare in the Berkshires in care of the funeral home.
