Obituary for Virginia Frances "Ginny" Chapman

Virginia Frances Chapman "Ginny", 80, of Dalton, passed away March 16, 2022 at Berkshire Medical Center.

Born in Pittsfield, MA on January 2, 1942, she was educated in local schools and attended Pittsfield High School.

On April 2, 1960, she married Robert "Bob" Chapman and were together 57 years until his death in 2017.

One of Ginny's greatest accomplishments was raising her three children. Through the years she was employed by several companies including Shaeffer-Eaton, Lakeview Florist in Dalton, and BCAC.

She enjoyed being a long time member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Elk’s Club and the Troy Boat and Yacht Club. She also was an avid bingo player and loved spending time at the casinos.

She is survived by her two loving daughters, Robin (John) Linnemanstons of Mequon, WI, and Marcie-Jo (John) Gingras of Pittsfield, and her devoted son, Robert Chapman, Jr., of Pittsfield. She also is survived by her sisters, Judith Hollingsworth of Pittsfield, Bonnie Patella of West Stockbridge, and Wendy Baker of Hinsdale, and her brothers, Gary Baker of Troy, NY, and Dennis Baker of Stephentown, NY.

Ginny's grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the light of her life, and through them her legacy will live on. She had special bonds with each of her grandchildren - Robert Chapman III (fiancé, Nikki Levardi), John (Kirsten) Linnemanstons, Katherine (Derek) Jaeger, Richard Cimini, Jr.(fiancé Haley Webster), Elizabeth Linnemanstons, and Thomas Cimini (partner Lauren Berard). She also adored her four great-grandchildren, Charlotte, Lillian, Riley and Samuel.

Ginny was the life of the party. Her smile and laughter were contagious and will be missed by all that knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Chapman, her parents Fred, Jr and Gertrude Ketcham Baker, her brother Fred Baker III, and her father John J. Puzio.

Per her wishes there will be no services. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to a charity of the donor’s choice.

Arrangements are being made by Dery Funeral Home, 54 Bradford St, Pittsfield, MA
