Obituary for Vincent J. DelSignore

Vincent J. DelSignore, 87, of Harris St., Pittsfield, died Thursday, September 3 at Hillcrest Commons Nursing Center after a long illness.
Born in Pittsfield on February 7, 1922, the son of Luisa Carnevale DelSignore and Lucian DelSignore, he attended Pittsfield public schools and was a lifelong resident of the city.
A veteran of WWII, Mr. DelSignore served in the U.S. Army Medical Corps in the South Pacific. Upon returning to Pittsfield after completing his military service, he went to work for General Electric and retired from their Transformer Department in 1987. Mr. DelSignore was a communicant of St. Mark Church in Pittsfield and had been a communicant of the former Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Pittsfield where he was a member of the Holy Name Society.
A longtime member of the NRA, Mr. DelSignore was an avid sportsman who enjoyed the outdoors his entire life. He especially enjoyed deer hunting and fishing from his boat on Onota Lake. During the off-season he looked forward to attending local turkey shoots and brought home his share of prizes. His other favorite pastimes were reading, swimming, and watching old movies. Mr. DelSignore leaves two sisters, Carmina M. DelSignore and Jennie D. Jansen and two brothers,Dominic A. and Lucian A. DelSignore all of Pittsfield. He also leaves sixteen nieces and nephews as well as great and great-great nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two sisters, Mary L. Ferraro and Angelina M. Sokolowski and two brothers, Anthony L. and Joseph A. DelSignore.

Funeral Notice; A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Vincent "Jimmy" DelSignore who died September 3, 2009 will be held Wednesday at 9:00 AM at St. Mark Church celebrated by the Rev. John Salatino, pastor. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mr. DelSignore may be made to St. Mark Church, in care of the Dery Funeral Home, 54 Bradford St. Pittsfield, MA 01201.
