Obituary for Vincent D. Caccaviello

Vincent DePaul Caccaviello, 85, of 19 Wealthy Avenue, Pittsfield, Ma. died Saturday morning at Berkshire Medical Center after a short illness. Born on October 7, 1922 in Brooklyn, New York the son of James and Mary F. Lamb Caccaviello. He attended schools in Brooklyn, New York and was a graduate of George Washington High School in Washington Heights, NY. He was a graduate of the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York City. In his youth he acted on Broadway productions and plays with Rod Stieger, Tony Curtis and Telly Scvallis.
He was a World War II United States Army Air Corp veteran and served in the Philippines. He was last employed for over 20 years for the former Giftos Brothers as a sales representative retiring from there in 1984. Prior to Giftos Bro.'s he had worked at the former Robert Hall Clothing and Palmers Variety. He also was the owner and operator of Aero Shade and Blind Co. on South St. in Pittsfield which is now the Pittsfield Visitors Center. After leaving Giftos Bro.'s he had worked at White Star Confections Co., Hallmark Cards, Wonder Bread and Party World. He was a volunteer for RSVP and had worked at its Tourist Information Booth, Downtown, Inc., a volunteer at the Salvation Army, The Christian Center and the Elizabeth Freeman Center. He was an accomplished artist of Greeting Cards and was a fan of the METS and GIANTS. He is survived by his wife the former Rose M. Tufo whom he married on April 18, 1947 at St. Elizabeth Church in Manhattan. Besides his wife he leaves two daughters, Maria C. and Teresa M. Caccaviello both of Pittsfield, Ma. A Son, Paul J. Caccaviello of Dalton, Ma. Also by a granddaughter.

Funeral Notice: A memorial service for Vincent DePaul Caccaviello who died October 20, 2007 will be held Thursday at 1:00 P.M. at the DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford St. Pittsfield, Ma, with Capt. Scott D. Peabody of The Salvation Army officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family at Pittsfield Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends at the funeral home on Thursday from Noon until the time of service. In lieu of flowers memorials in his memory may be made to RecipE For Success or to the Salvation Army both in care of the funeral home. Vincent is lovingly survived by his granddaughter, Grace Olivia Caccaviello and by his daughter in law, Karen Caccaviello. He enjoyed the love and companionship of his dog "Tootsie".
