Obituary for Victor E. Lancia

VICTOR E. LANCIA, 89, of 61 Wells Road, Cheshire, died Tuesday morning,
September 2, at Berkshire Medical Center.
Born in Cheshire, January 2, 1919, the son of Antonio and Antonia Ferrelli
Lancia, he attended Adams and Cheshire schools.
He served in the United States Army during World War II. Mr. Lancia was employed by General Electric Company as a foundry worker, crane operator, and in the shipping department. He retired in 1981 with 38 years service.
He was a communicant of St. Mary of the Assumption Church. He was a member
of the General Electric Quarter Century and Pensioners clubs. He enjoyed carpentry and helped people build homes. He loved being with his children and grandchildren.
Mr. Lancia leaves his wife, the former Virginia Stec, whom he married November
30, 1940. Besides his wife, he is survived by a son, Ronald Lancia and his wife, Lois, of
Cheshire; a daughter, Sandra Sloane and her husband, Joe, of Cheshire; a sister, Mary
Pergiovanni of Cheshire; four grandchildren, Mark Lancia and his wife, Tina, Brian
Lancia and his wife, Shelley, Brent Lancia and his wife, Alimah, and Shannon Toomey
and her husband, Patrick; two step grandsons, Matthew Sloan [no 'e'] and Christopher
Sloane [with an 'e']; seven great grandchildren and three step great grandchildren.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for VICTOR E. LANCIA, who died Tuesday, September 2, will
be Saturday, September 6, at 9:15 a.m., from DERY-CHESHIRE FUNERAL HOME, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m., at St. Mary of the Assumption Church
celebrated by Rev. David R. Raymond, Pastor. Burial will follow in Cheshire Cemetery.
Calling hours will be Friday, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mr. Lancia may be made to Cheshire Volunteer Fire Department in care of the Funeral Home, P.O. Box 445, Cheshire.
