Obituary for Victor O. "Vic" Bonneau

Victor “Vic” O. Bonneau, 88 of Acton, MA, passed away on December 11, 2021.

Vic was born in Pittsfield, MA on September 20,1933, son of Oscar and Juliette Rheaume Bonneau. Vic spent most of his life in Pittsfield, MA. He attended Pittsfield High School, and proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1951-1954, during the Korean War aboard the Destroyer U.S.S. Walk. Vic was honorably discharged and was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 448 in Pittsfield, MA. After his Naval discharge, Vic met the love of his life Suzann Nautel Bonneau with whom he was happily married for 66 years.

Vic was an expert tool and mold maker at Marland Mold, an employee owned company. He retired in 1995 after completing 40 years of service.

Vic was known for his athletic accomplishments, beginning at age 15 when he qualified as a speed skater to enter the Olympics. At age 44, he began training as a runner and became an accomplished marathoner and triathlete. He qualified and ran the Boston Marathon five times. Vic ran a total of ten marathons, with his best time of two hours and fifty-two minutes in Montreal, Canada. In addition to running, he was an avid racing/mountain biker, kayaker, and cross-country skier. Prior to the onset of COVID, he was at the gym at least three times a week weight training.

He loved chatting with his family/friends and his grandchildren whom he adored.

Vic is survived by his loving wife Suzann Nautel Bonneau of Acton, MA; his children: Lisa Bonneau Creran Noone (John) of Westford, MA; Victor B. Bonneau (Karen) of Dayton, OH; his five grandchildren: Alexander, Juliette, Monique, Helene, and Dylan; and his five great grandchildren.

Vic was predeceased by his four sisters, two brothers, and a son-in-law.

FUNERAL NOTICE: A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held, Wednesday, December 15, 2021 at 1 p.m. at Sacred Heart Church, celebrated by Rev. Steven Montesanti, Pastor. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to Sacred Heart Church in Pittsfield, MA in care of DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford St, Pittsfield, MA 01201.
