Obituary for Tommie Rece Purry Jr.

Tommie Rece Purry, Jr. age 65, of 55 Spring Street, Pittsfield died Monday, January 18, 2016 at home. He was born in Jackson, Mississippi on December 1, 1950, the son of the late Tommie R. Purry, Sr. and Annie Bell Williams Purry. He was educated in Pittsfield schools and was a 1969 graduate of Pittsfield High School.
Mr. Purry had worked for Conrail for several years before working for General Electric Company in Pittsfield and Schenectady; he worked in the copper shop as well as maintenance for seventeen years until 1995. He later worked as a truck driver for two years. He enjoyed sports, fishing, football, bowling, golfing, drag racing, and jazz music.
Mr. Purry is survived by his two sons: Tommie R. Purry III and his wife Evie M. Purry of Dover, Delaware; and Travis M. Purry and his wife Felica F. Purry of Longs, South Carolina; eight grandchildren; his former wife: Gail Y. Goodson Purry of Maryland; his brother: Robert L. Purry of Pittsfield; and his sister: Linda J. Purry Scales of Pittsfield. Tommie is pre-deceased by his brother: Michael J. Purry; and two sisters: Imogene L. Purry and Carol A. Purry.

FUNERAL NOTICE Funeral services for Tommie R. Purry, Jr. will be TUESDAY, JANUARY 26, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Second Congregational Church. Calling hours will precede the funeral from 10:00 until 11:00 AM at the church. The DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford Street, Pittsfield is in charge of arrangements.
