Mr. Thomas J. Fahey Jr., 66, of 35 West Harbour Isle Drive, Hutchinson Island, Ft. Pierce, FL and a former longtime Dalton resident died Saturday, February 3rd at home. Born on November 4, 1940 in Pittsfield, MA he was a son of the late Thomas J. Fahey Sr. and the late Phyllis Wendling Fahey. He was educated in Dalton Schools and was a 1958 graduate of the former Dalton High School. He also attended the former Cranwell Preparatory School, Xavier College and St. Anselm's College in Manchester, NH. Mr. Fahey was employed at Crane & Company in Dalton, MA from 1962 to 2001. From 1996 to 2001 he was the supervisor for Manufacturing Technology & Safety at Crane & Companies Bryon Weston Mill. Prior to that he had been the supervisor of the #2 paper machine also at the Byron Weston Mill where he was very active in the papermaking industry throughout his career. He retired on April 1, 2001. He was a former communicant of St. Agnes Church in Dalton. In his younger years he was a lifeguard at the Pontoosuc Lake Beach and he enjoyed playing football and swimming. He also enjoyed traveling, investing, and following the stock market and business news. He leaves his wife, the former Vivian Burke Gordon of Hutchinson Island. A son, Thomas J. Fahey III of Pittsfield. Four daughters, Martha Schwaikert of Winsted, CT, Jennifer Gigliotti and Pamela DeCelles both of Dalton and Moira Zacharakis of Walnut Creek, CA and a brother, Peter Fahey of Port St. Lucie, FL. Eight grandchildren and a great granddaughter. He also leaves his former wife, Martha Beck Fahey of Dalton.

FUNERAL NOTICE: A private graveside service for Thomas J. Fahey Jr., 66, former longtime Dalton resident who died February 3, 2007 will be held in the family lot in Ashuelot Cemetery. Calling hours for the public will be held on Monday, February 19th from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM at the DERY-FOLEY FUNERAL HOME in Dalton. Mr. Fahey was very active in the papermaking industry throughout his career and was an expert at making fine stationary from the initial process to the final product. He also leaves his former wife and the mother of his children, Martha Beck Fahey of Dalton and his eight grandchildren, Alexander, Daniel, Nicholas, Alexia, Ariela, Francesca, Emma and John. He also leaves his great granddaughter, Brooklynn and his four sons-in-law, John Schwaikert, John Gigliotti, Daniel DeCelles and Christopher Zacharakis. Memorial donations in memory of Mr. Fahey may be made to Hospice Care in the Berkshires in care of the Dery-Foley Funeral Home, 890 Main Street, Dalton, MA 01226.
