Obituary for Therese Carnevale

Therese Ann Carnevale (Kane), 65, of Pittsfield passed away on December 20, 2023. Born in Pittsfield on September 14, 1958, she was the daughter of Ronald J. Kane and Catherine Kane (Durkin). Therese graduated from St. Joseph’s High School before starting her career at General Electric plastics division. While there, she received an Associate’s degree from Berkshire Community College and several years later her Bachelor’s degree in Business from what was then North Adams State College. She worked in Purchasing for General Electric until they sold the plastics division to Lockheed Martin who later sold the division to Sabic; she stayed throughout all acquisitions for an impressive 44-year career.

Therese married the love of her life, Anthony B. Carnevale on November 26, 1988, and the two shared a beautiful life for 35 years. Together, they participated in a variety of hobbies and adventures including sailing, motorcycle riding, a brief adventure with an RV, and floating in their pontoon at sunset on Onota Lake. Therese worked diligently to make a beautiful home for her and Tony and hosted their friends and family for many gatherings but particularly for badminton in the pool. She always had a sarcastic remark or quip when a game wasn’t going her way. While gathered for family holidays at her parents’ house, Therese was a champion ping pong player. Rarely beaten by anyone, she credited her success to being the only left-handed player in the family.

As a very talented gardener, Therese took great pride in building and maintaining beautiful gardens and landscaping at their home. During the summer, you could always find her out on the deck sprucing up her potted plants between dips in the pool with Shania Twain, The Mavericks, or country radio 107.7 playing somewhere in the background. Over the years she and Tony enjoyed having four golden retrievers who she loved dearly – Brina, Emma, Darla, and Hailey.

Therese is survived and will be greatly missed by her brothers Michael Kane (Marion VanArsdell), David Kane, and James Kane, her nieces Meghan Kane (Justin Bousquet) of Bloomfield, CT and her niece Sarah Kane of Jacksonville, FL. She is survived by her sister and brother in-law Jeanne and Bruce Zdanis, nephew Paul LaRochelle, and Stephen, Laurie, and Alison Carnevale. She is also survived by many cousins and an amazing group of friends, some dating back 50+ years; a true testament to a life well-loved and well lived.

Therese is predeceased by her husband Tony, her parents Ron and Kay Kane, and her father and mother in-law, Anthony and Elaine Carnevale.

A combined funeral service for Therese and Tony will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Therese’s honor to Mount Carmel Care Center of Lenox, MA 01240. Mount Carmel Care Center
