Obituary for Theresa A. Shelsey

Miss Theresa A. Shelsey, 84, of 23 Daniels Avenue, Pittsfield, died Saturday at home. Born on February 8, 1922 in Pittsfield, she was a daughter of the late Damiano and Teresa Peri Scelsi. A lifetime resident of Pittsfield, she was educated in Pittsfield schools and graduated from Pittsfield High School.She was employed as an observer with New England Telephone for forty-one years retiring in 1982. She was a communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church where she was very active and served as a lector. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers with whom she was also very active. She enjoyed knitting. Her family was a very important part of her life. She leaves her twin brother, Peter Shelsey of New Orleans, Louisiana. She also leaves her three sisters, Mary Solera, Josephine Lentz and Antoinette Shelsey, all of Pittsfield.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for Miss Theresa A. Shelsey, 84, of Pittsfield who died January 6, 2007 will be held on Wednesday at 9:15 AM from the DERY FUNERAL HOME in Pittsfield followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church celebrated by the Rev. Geoffrey Deeker, pastor. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. There are no calling hours. Miss Shelsey also leaves her loving eleven nieces, five nephews and many grandnieces and grandnephews. She was predeceased by two brothers, the late Joseph S. Scelsi and the late Nicholas A. Shelsy. In lie of flowers memorial donations may be made to the catholic Youth Center in care of the funeral home, 54 Bradford St. Pittsfield, MA 01201.
