Obituary for Theodore Syrko

THEODORE SYRKO, 81, of Columbia Arms, 65 Columbus Avenue, Pittsfield, died Monday morning at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield after a long illness. Born in the Ukraine, May 9, 1925, the son of Harry and Eustenaia Syrko, he was educated in Ukranian schools, and came to the United States in 1950 at the age of 25.
Mr. Syrko was employed as a crane operator at General Electric Company for
twenty-five years retiring in 1987. Prior to going to work for G.E., he worked ten years
as a bartender at the former Majestic Restaurant in Pittsfield.He was a member of St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church, and was a
member of the G.E. Quarter Century and Pensioners Clubs. He was a long-time New
York Yankees fan who also enjoyed traveling, playing cards, and gardening.
His wife, the former Rosemary Bard, whom he married in 1959, died December 19, 1977.
Mr. Syrko is survived by two daughters, Ann Syrko of Pittsfield and Louise
Moore of Pittsfield; four grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for THEODORE SYRKO, who died Monday, January 29, will
be private. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of
Mr. Syrko may be made to St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church in care of
DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford Street, Pittsfield.
Mr. Syrko also leaves his son-in-law, Jayson Moore, of Pittsfield.
