Obituary for Sybil M. Griffin

SYBIL MARY GRIFFIN, 89, of 150 Pineview Road, Tequesta, Florida, a former long-time resident of Colonial Gardens, Pittsfield, died Saturday, March 31, at Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center in Palm Beach, Florida. She has resided in Florida for the past five years.
Born in New Haven, Connecticut, on May 25, 1917, the daughter of Alexander D. and Hazel Gauthier Fish, she was a 1935 graduate of Pittsfield High
School and was a 1938 graduate of the former Bishop Memorial School of Nursing.
A registered nurse, Mrs. Griffin had been employed
at the former House of Mercy in Pittsfield, where she worked for twenty-six years retiring in 1964. She had also done private duty nursing at one time. While in Pittsfield, she was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church where
she was a devout Catholic and devoted to the church. She was a member of the
Alumnae Association of the Bishop Memorial School of Nursing. She was an avid reader, enjoyed playing cards, going to the beach, and
being with her grandchildren.
Her husband, Henry A. Griffin, whom she married June 19, 1943, in Pittsfield, died December 9, 1982. Mrs. Griffin is survived by two daughters, Mary A. Vieira of Waterbury,Connecticut, and Patricia M. Levy of Jupiter, Florida; five grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for SYBIL MARY GRIFFIN, who died Saturday,March 31, will be Tuesday, April 10, at 11:15 a.m., from DERY FUNERAL HOME, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 12:00 Noon at Sacred Heart Church celebrated by Rev. James K. Joyce, Pastor. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours will be Monday, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., at the Dery Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mrs. Griffin may be made to the Jay Robert Lauer Hospice & Palliative Care Unit in care of the Dery Funeral Home, 54 Bradford Street, Pittsfield. Mrs. Griffin is also survived by her sister-in-law, Monica Delorey of
Dalton, and several nieces and nephews.
