Obituary for Stnaley J. Karpenski

STANLEY JOSEPH KARPENSKI, 89, of 76 Mohegan Street, Pittsfield, died Tuesday, December 2, at Berkshire Medical Center.
Born in Pittsfield, August 13, 1919, the son of Ignacy and Zophia Krymska
Kaspszenski, he was educated in Pittsfield schools. A World War II veteran, he was a Corporal in the United States Army from April 29, 1942, until October 28, 1945. He served tours of duty in Normandy, Northern France, The Rhineland, and Central Europe.
Mr. Karpenski was employed by Eaton Paper Company as a foreman in the
Printscript Division. He retired in 1981 with 43 years service. He was a communicant of St. Joseph Church and had been a communicant of the
former Holy Family Church.
He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He enjoyed gardening, especially growing tomatoes, and fishing.
Mr. Karpenski leaves his wife, the former Shirley White Lundergan, whom he married October 4, 1997. Besides his wife, Mr. Karpenski is survived by a daughter, Marilyn E. Williams
and her husband, David C. Williams of Washington, D.C., and their two sons, Jason and
his wife, Bernadette, and their daughter, Amelia, and Timothy S. Williams; a son, Peter
S. Karpenski and his life-partner, Kate Hubley, of Pittsfield, and his children, Peter J.
Karpenski and his wife, Galiea, Christiana Karpenski and Justin Karpenski; step children,
William Lundergan and his wife, Pamela of Pittsfield and Deborah Koprek and her
husband, Joseph, and their son, Adam of Pittsfield.
Mr. Karpenski was pre-deceased by his first wife, the former Frances McNeil,
who died November 9, 1989, and by his sister, Julia S. Kelly, who died October 29,
2008.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for STANLEY J. KARPENSKI, who died Tuesday, December
2, will be today, Friday, at 10:15 a.m., from DERY FUNERAL HOME with a
Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m., at St. Joseph Church celebrated by Rev. Msgr.
Michael A. Shershanovich, Pastor. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. In lieu
of flowers, contributions in memory of Mr. Karpenski may be made to the American
Heart Association in care of the Funeral Home, 54 Bradford Street, Pittsfield.
