Obituary for Steven F. Fischer Sr.
STEVEN FRANCIS FISCHER, SR., 53, of 47 Exeter Avenue, Pittsfield,
died unexpectedly on Monday, April 13, at Berkshire Medical Center, surrounded by
his loving family.
Born in Pittsfield, April 18, 1955, the son of Ann S. Wilde Fischer and the late
Charles E. Fischer, he was educated in Pittsfield schools and was a 1972 graduate of
Pittsfield High School.
At the time of his death, Mr. Fischer was employed as a warehouse and delivery man for Paul Rich & Son on North Street in Pittsfield where he had worked for the past
16 years. Prior to that he had been employed in the Power Transformer Department at
General Electric Company for 18 years.
He enjoyed his family and gardening.
Mr. Fischer leaves his wife, the former Cheryl Ann Launt, whom he married
September 20, 1974 at St. Charles Church.
Besides his mother and his wife, Mr. Fischer is survived by a son, Steven F.
Fischer, Jr., and his wife, Tannille, of Pittsfield; a daughter, Sara Ann Fischer and her
Partner, Dustin Clark, of Lanesborough; a sister Lynn F. Noel and her husband, Jeffrey,
of Pittsfield; a grandson, Evan Joseph Fischer who lived with Cheryl and Steven; his
brothers-in-law, John "Fred" Launt and his wife, Gail, and Donald H. Launt, Jr., and
his wife, Christine, his sisters-in-law, Mary Launt-Nylic and Catherine L. Plankey and
her husband, Steve; as well as several aunts and uncles, and nieces and nephews.
He was pre-deceased by a sister-in-law, Donna Gates, and by his grandparents,
Florence Murray Fischer and Carl Fischer and Evelyn Garlin
FUNERAL NOTICE:
Funeral services for STEVEN FRANCIS FISCHER, SR., who died Monday,
April 13, will be held Friday, April 17, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m..
at St. Charles Church celebrated by Rev. Peter A. Gregory, Pastor. Burial will follow in
Pittsfield Cemetery. Calling hours will be Thursday, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., at the
DERY FUNERAL HOME. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mr. Fischer
may be made to establish an education fund for his grandson, Evan, in care of DERY
FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford Street, Pittsfield.
