Obituary for Stephanie V. "Steffi" Konopka

Stephanie V. Konopka, 92, formerly of 18 Linn Street in Pittsfield died Sunday, February 3, 2013 at Berkshire Medical Center. A longtime Pittsfield resident, she had resided at Mt. Greylock Extended Care for the past ten years. She had also spent several years living in the Albany, NY area and as well as in Florida. Born in Pittsfield on October 15, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Josephine Demby Konopka. She was educated in Pittsfield schools and was a longtime communicant of the former Holy Family Church. She loved Pittsfield history and was very proud of her Polish heritage.
Stephanie was predeceased by her sister; Catherine M. Konopka and by her five brothers; Anthony, John, William, Stanley and Joseph. She also leaves several nieces and nephews.
Steffi's family would like to express their deep appreciation for the wonderful care that Steffi received while at BMC during her brief stay there. The Orthopedic staff on 3-Blue and the Intensive Care doctors and nurses, especially Dr. Jack Ringler and nurse Kiersten, who offered such gracious and caring support to Steffi and her family at a very difficult time. They also extend their special gratitude to Mt. Greylock Extended Care on North Street, for the ten years of generous, loving and compassionate care that Steffi enjoyed so very much while she was there. They are most sincerely grateful to all the staff of Mt. Greylock, but especially to those on South 1 for their dedicated and attentive care of Steffi.

FUNERAL NOTICE: A graveside service for Stephanie V. Konopka will be held on Saturday, April 6, 2013 at St. Joseph Cemetery at time to be announced. There are no calling hours. Memorial donations in memory of Steffi may be made to the Mt. Greylock Extended Care Activity Fund in care of the DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford St. Pittsfield, MA 01201 which is in charge of arrangements.
