Obituary for Stanley F. Koza

Mr. Stanley F. Koza, 79, of 12 3rd Avenue, Pine Valley Park in Cheshire died Saturday at North Adams Commons after a long illness. He had resided at North Adams Commons since December of 2006. Born on October 26, 1927 in Adams, MA he was a son of the late Michael and Mary Dziengel Koza. He was educated in Adams schools and was a graduate of the former Adams High School. A longtime Cheshire resident, he served in the United States Army during World War II. He enlisted on March 27, 1946 and was discharged on May 11, 1947. He was employed as an air conditioning and refrigeration repairman at General Electric in Pittsfield for thirty years retiring in 1988. He was a longtime communicant of St. Mary of the Assumption Church in Cheshire and St. Stanislaus Church in Adams. He was active in local politics and enjoyed campaigning for local politicians. In his younger years he was very active playing basketball and baseball in local youth leagues and school teams. He enjoyed spending time with his granddaughter and gardening. He leaves his wife of 46 years, the former Pamela Brooks of Cheshire whom he married on September 7, 1960 in England. Two sons, Robert A. Koza of Baton Rouge, Louisiana and Stephan M. Koza of Newbury, MA. He also leaves a daughter, Elizabeth K. Jackson of Lenox, a sister, Stacia Ordyna of Adams and a granddaughter.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for Stanley F. Koza, 79, of Cheshire who died February 3, 2007 will be held Wednesday at 9:15 AM from the DERY-CHESHIRE FUNERAL HOME followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at St. Mary of the Assumption Church in Cheshire. Burial will follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery in Adams. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 4 to 7 PM at the Dery-Cheshire Funeral Home. Mr. Koza also leaves his granddaughter, Zoe Koza of Lenox with whom he enjoyed spending time with and his son-in-law, Michael Jackson also of Lenox, two daughters-in-law, Bridget Koza of Newbury, MA and Rea Koza of Baton Rouge. He also leaves several nieces and nephews. Following the service at the cemetery the family would like to extend an invitation to celebrate Stanley's life at Swistak's Restaurant in Cheshire.
