Obituary for Stanley J. Gimlewicz

Stanley J. Gimlewicz, 91, a lifelong resident of Pittsfield, died Friday, January 10, 2014, at
Craneville Place of Dalton where he had resided since February 23, 2010.
Born in New Britain, Connecticut, on May 9, 1922, a son of Louis and Victoria Mach
Gimlewicz, he was educated in Pittsfield schools and was a 1940 graduate of Pittsfield High School.
He served with the United States Navy, stationed in the Pacific, during both World War II
and the Korean War.
Mr. Gimlewicz was employed by General Electric Company as an expeditor. He retired in
1987 with 44 years service.
He was a communicant of St. Joseph Church and had been a communicant of the former
Holy Family Church.
He was a member of the Polish Community Club and enjoyed polka dancing. He was a life
member of the Pittsfield Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and hunting.
Mr. Gimlewicz is survived by a brother, Joseph J. Gimlewicz, and his wife, Florence, of
Pittsfield; and a sister, Agnes Ferry, of Spring, Texas; as well as many nieces and nephews, great
Nieces and great nephews.
He was pre-deceased by a sister, Helen Lancto.

FUNERAL NOTICE:
Funeral services for Stanley J. Gimlewicz will be held Tuesday, January 14, at 12:30 p.m.,
from DERY FUNERAL HOME with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 1:00 p.m., at St. Joseph Church
celebrated by Rev. Geoffrey J. Deeker. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. Calling hours will be Tuesday from 11:30 to 12:30 at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to HospiceCare in The Berkshires in care of the Funeral Home, 54 Bradford Street, Pittsfield.
