Obituary for Stan Baylock

Stan Baylock passed away on May 13, 2014 after a short illness. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Rosina Baylock of Pittsfield, two sons: Joseph (Cathryn) of Burlingame, CA, and Thomas of Costa Mesa, CA; and two grandsons: Alexander and Nicholas.
Stan was born on August 4, 1922 in New Britain, Conn. where he leaves numerous nieces and nephews descended from six brothers who pre-deceased him. He joined the U.S. Army Air Corps during WWII and flew C-47s and then P-47s in the 9th Air Force, 86th Fighter Group in Europe. Stan often remarked with a sense of wonder that he had learned to fly before he learned to drive.
A 1950 graduate of the University of Connecticut with a B.S. Mechanical Engineering, he worked as a mechanical and quality control engineer for General Electric Power Transformer division in Pittsfield for 31 years. He was known by his colleagues and GE's suppliers as someone who it was not easy to slip things past. Stan worked for H&R Block after retiring from GE and often volunteered at the Senior Center helping seniors with their tax returns. His eye for detail served him well in many ways.
Stan was an avid fisherman, golfer and earlier in life played lots of tennis at the G.E.A.A. He won the club championship in mixed doubles in 1958. He was a lifelong parishioner at St. Teresa's and Sacred Heart Churches and will be missed for his modesty and his cheerful spirit.
