Obituary for Simone Marie Gaunt
Simone Marie Gaunt, 73, of Pittsfield, passed away June 21, 2021 at her home, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Holyoke, MA on May 10, 1948 to Lionel and Loretta LaPlante Normand.
Simone attended Holyoke, MA schools and was a 1966 graduate of Precious Blood High School. She married James J. Gaunt on September 2, 1967 at Precious Blood Church in Holyoke.
Mrs. Gaunt was employed by Elder Services for 30 years, having worked first at their Meals on Wheels Program and worked her way up to Intake and Referral Specialist, from which she retired in 2013.
A communicant of Sacred Heart Church, she enjoyed crocheting, baking, going to the sea coast of Maine and spending time with her grandsons.
Mrs. Gaunt is survived by her husband, James Gaunt of Pittsfield. Three daughters, Monique Mullaney-Senecal and husband Paul of Adamstown, MD, AnnMarie Cairns and husband Jacob of Pittsfield, and Christine Cronze of Pittsfield. Her sister, Pauline Fitzgerald of Springfield, and four beloved grandsons, Christopher Cripps, Thomas Mullaney, James Mullaney and Sebastian Cronze.
She was predeceased by her brother, William Normand.
FUNERAL NOTICE: A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held, FRIDAY, June 25, 2021 at 12:15 p.m. at Sacred Heart Church, celebrated by Rev. Steven Montesanti, Pastor. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. Calling hours will be held prior to the service from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford St, Pittsfield. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to Elder Services or HospiceCare in the Berkshires in care of the funeral home.
