Obituary for Shirley E. Waterman

Shirley E. Waterman, 84, a longtime Lanesboro resident died Saturday evening at home. Born in Pittsfield on April 22, 1929, she was a daughter of the late Charles C. Ploss Sr. and the late Evelyn King Ploss. She was educated in Pittsfield schools. A homemaker, she had worked at one time as a waitress at the former Dopey's Restaurant and at Bob's Country Kitchen in Lanesboro. She had also worked at the former Berkshire County Savings Bank. She married her husband, the late Earl L. Waterman on September 3, 1945 in Pittsfield. He died on February 9, 1986. Shirley was a communicant of both North American Martyrs Church and St. Charles Church. She was also a member of the Secret Pal Club in Lanesboro. She enjoyed cooking. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and grandchildren. She leaves four daughters; Linda A. Bentz and her husband John, Sharron M. Maloy and Catherine E. Lyon all of Lanesboro and Lisa M. Coleman and her husband Kevin of Leominster. One sister; Maureen Wilker and her husband Richard of Pittsfield. Sixteen grandchildren; Stacy Markham, Jennifer Bentz, Lori Ciliberti, Jodi Benoit, Michelle Maloy, Adam LaCasse, Meghan Maloy, Michael Maloy, Nicholas LaCasse, Katelyn Jackson, Brittany Mason, Jordyn Mason, Rylee Coleman, Trevor Coleman, John Coleman and Christine Coleman. Twelve great grandchildren; Corey Bentz, Brianna Markham, Ryan Markham, Kailey Benoit, Justin Halley, Ashley Benoit, Malia Koffi, Haylee Jackson, Sophia Ciliberti, Emily Suriner, Lydia LaCasse and Odin LaCasse.
She leaves her two sisters-in-law; Lorraine Ploss of Pittsfield and Jackie Ploss of the State of Florida
as well as "Beannie" Page of Pittsfield whom she considered as a special daughter. Shirley also leaves her dear friend and cousin; Rene Dufur of Lanesboro and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers; Charles C. Ploss Jr. and Richard F. Ploss and by a sister; Patricia Hogue.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for Shirley E. Waterman, 84, of Lanesboro who died April 5, 2014 will be held Friday at 9:15 AM from the DERY FUNERAL HOME in Pittsfield followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at St. Charles Church celebrated by the Rev. Peter Gregory, pastor,. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Thursday from 4 to 7 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial donations in memory of Shirley may be made to Hospice Care in the Berkshires in care of the funeral home, 54 Bradford St. Pittsfield, MA 01201.
