Obituary for Shirley B. Waite

SHIRLEY B. WAITE, 77, of 19 Tennyson Avenue, Pittsfield, died Monday, March 10, late afternoon in her home after a long hard-fought battle with cancer. She died in the loving care of her family, friends, and the gentle, comforting nursing staff
who were attending to her needs.
Born January 29, 1931, in Pittsfield, daughter of William J. and Marion W.
Heushele Moore, she attended Pittsfield High School and graduated in 1949.
Mrs. Waite held Executive Secretarial positions with several local firms,
including Western Mass Electric, Berkshire Mutual Insurance, and physician
offices. Her career then transitioned to Legal Secretary working for law offices
of several local attorneys.
Mrs. Waite, during her healthy years, was a prominent member of the Seventh
Day Adventist Church, where she donated significant time to fund-raising activities for
the school. In her younger years, she was a member of the Pittsfield Girls and
Berkshire Hills Figure Skating clubs; she was an accomplished skater. She also enjoyed
writing poetry, tending to several rental properties in the local area, and her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren.
She leaves her husband, Clifton Waite, whom she married December 30, 1968
In Pittsfield; two children, Frederick J. King of Hudson, New Hampshire, Jeffrey A. King
of Lanesborough; 3 stepchildren, Donald, Linda, and Larry Waite of Virginia; and three
grandchildren, Alexis, Scott, and Ashley.
She was predeceased by two brothers, Harry and Carlton Moore, and her sister,
Marjorie Boccar.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for SHIRLEY BERTHA WHITE will be Friday, March 14, at
11:00 a.m., at the Seventh Day Adventist Church. Burial will be at a later date in Cheshire Cemetery. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, contributions in
memory of Mrs. Waite may be made to the Seventh Day Adventist Church School
Department or to the American Cancer Society, both in care of DERY FUNERAL
HOME, 54 Bradford Street, Pittsfield.
