Obituary for Shirley L. Riggins

Mrs. Shirley L. Riggins, 74, of 1039 Paquonnock Rd. Groton, CT died Saturday at Berkshire Medical Center. Born on July 15, 1931 in Portland, Oregon she was the daughter of the late Lowell and Edith Grim. A longtime resident of Groton, CT, she was educated in Oregon schools. She was the wife of the late Wendell E. Riggins who died July 30, 1979. A homemaker, she had worked at one time as a receptionist at a law firm in the CT area. She enjoyed reading, spending time with her grandchildren, gardening and tending to her roses. She leaves two daughters, Sherian L. Wrzesinski of Hinsdale, MA and Cindy Kackowski of Noank, CT. A son Roy S. Riggins of New Britain, CT, ten grandchildren and three great grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, the late Dwight T. Riggins who died in March of 1981.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Shirley L. Riggins of Groton, CT who died July 8, 2006 will be deeply missed by her family and friends including her ten grandchildren, Scott, Todd and Jeff Casey, Matthew Wrzesinski, Carisa Ducharme, Sarah Riggins, Aerick , Caeleb and Sivana Kackowski and Jason Riggins and her three great grandchildren, Melissa and Abigail Riggins and Conroy Casey. She also leaves her sons-in-law, Stanley C. Wrzesinski and Douglas Kackowski and her four granddaughters-in-law, Aimee, Nicole and Cathy Casey and Joanne Riggins. She was predeceased by her son, the late Dwight T. Riggins and by two sisters and a brother. Funeral services will be private, there are no calling hours. Burial will take place in Elm Grove Cemetery in Mystic, CT. Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society both in care of the DERY-FOLEY FUNERAL HOME, 890 Main St. Dalton, MA 01226 which is in charge of arrangements.
