Obituary for Shirley Lund
SHIRLEY LUND, 86, of 6 Maplewood Avenue, Pittsfield, died Saturday, October 18, at her home where she had lived since 1989. She had previously resided in Brookline and in Boston.
Born in Nashua, New Hampshire, March 26, 1922, a daughter of Elmer T. and
Annie G. Lund, she was a 1939 graduate of Nashua High School and a 1959 graduate of
Boston University where she earned a bachelor's degree in philosophy and religion. In
1967 she received her doctorate in philosophy from the University of St. Andrews in St.
Andrews, Scotland.
Miss Lund was a professor at Boston University from 1966 to 1989 in its College
of Liberal Arts and the Department of Religion where she was a professor in its School of
Theology and New Testament Department.
She enjoyed working with special needs persons.
Professor Lund is survived by two brothers, David A. Lund of Pittsfield and Dana
A Lund of Round Hill, Virginia, and many nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by three brothers, Everett M. Lund, Winthrop E. Lund, and
Richard K. Lund, and a sister, Beverley L. Christoffersen.
FUNERAL NOTICE: At the request of SHIRLEY LUND, who died Saturday, October 18, there are no
services. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to BFAIR (Berkshire Family and Individual Resources) in care of DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford Street, Pittsfield, MA 01201, which is in charge of arrangements.
