Obituary for Shirley E. Curry

Mrs. Shirley Edna Curry, 81, formerly of 247 Harryel Street, Pittsfield, Ma. died Sunday morning at Springside of Pittsfield where she has resided since May 12, 2004. Born on July 19, 1925 in Montville, Connecticut a daughter of the late Napoleon and Edna LaBonte Bonville. She attended schools in Uncasville, Conn. and was a graduate of Norwich Free Academy, Norwich, Conn. Mrs. Curry was a homemaker and was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church, and she enjoyed sports and was a Red Sox Boston Celtics Fan. She enjoyed reading and crossword puzzles. She was a volunteer with the former Grey Ladies at St. Luke's Hospital and along with her husband was involved for many years with the Boy's Club Cavaliers Drum Corps helping with many fund raisers. She was the wife of Albert D. "Bud" Curry whom she married July 31, 1943; he died September 24, 2005. She leaves a son, Gary F. Curry of Pittsfield, Ma. And a daughter, Mary E. Curry-Proskin of Dalton, Ma. Two Brothers, Napoleon Bonville of Beaufort, South Carolina and Carroll Bonville of Torrington, Conn. and Five Grandsons.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for Shirley E. Curry who died Dec. 31, 2006 will be held Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2007 at 8:15 a.m. from the DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford St. Pittsfield, Ma. followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, celebrated by the Rev. James K. Joyce, pastor. Calling hours at Dery Funeral Home will be Tuesday from 4 to 6 P.M. In lieu of flowers memorials in her memory may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital in care of the funeral home. Mrs. Curry is lovingly survived by her five grandsons, Matthew and Jeffrey Curry, Ryan Ricchi, Daniel and David Proskin. Also survived by son in law Robert Proskin and daughter in law Claudia Austin Curry.
