Obituary for Shaun "Jake" Larkin

Shaun "Jake" Larkin, 57, of 120 Warren Avenue, a lifelong resident of
Dalton, died Monday, September 30, 2013, at his home surrounded by his loving family and many many friends.
Born in Pittsfield on April 1, 1956, a son of the late Edward P. and Elizabeth
Sullivan Larkin, he was educated in Dalton schools and was a 1974 graduate of Wahconah Regional High School.
Jake was employed by Moody Energy of Dalton where he was an Oil
Burner Technician for twenty years. During the 1970s, he had worked for Eaton Paper Company in Pittsfield.
He was also a bartender at the Hard Hat Bar and Grill in Dalton for many years.
He was a member of the Sons of the American Legion.
A musician who loved music and guitars for more than thirty years, Jake
played with the Jake Larkin Band, Parrott Pie, and the Summit Hill Band.
Jake is survived by a son, Matthew J. Larkin, of Dalton; two brothers, Peter J. Larkin and his wife, Antonina, of Westerly, R.I., Jamie W. Larkin and his wife, Jane,
of Washington, Mass., two sisters, Mary Ellen Palmer of Dalton, and Alice E. Everhart and her husband, Chris, of Pittsfield; his ten nieces and nephews, T.J. Larkin of Nashville, Tenn., Elizabeth Larkin of Atlanta, Ga., Alice Barry Larkin, Colin Larkin,
Sean Larkin, Lily Palmer, and Ryan Palmer, all of Dalton, Claire Everhart and Ian
Everhart, both of Pittsfield, and Eric Lampro of Boston; his great niece and great
nephew, Bella and Hunter; as well as his best friend, Dave "Gus" Brigley, of Dalton
and also his beloved dog, Maggie.
He was recently pre-deceased by a brother, Barry Larkin, late of Dalton.

FUNERAL NOTICE:
Calling hours for Shaun "Jake" Larkin will be held Thursday, October 3, from
4:00 to 7:00 p.m., at DERY-FOLEY FUNERAL HOME in Dalton. A prayer service
will follow at 7:00 p.m. with Rev Christopher A. Malatesta, Pastor of St. Agnes Church,
officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Jake may be made to the Dalton Fire Department or to the American Legion Building Fund both in care of the DERY-FOLEY FUNERAL HOME, 890 East Main Street, Dalton.
