Obituary for Sharon S. McCLELLAND

SHARON SIRUN McCLELLAND, 59, of 88 Lincoln Street, Pittsfield, went
Home to be with our Lord on Saturday, February 12, surrounded by her loving family
and friends, at Berkshire Medical Center.
Born in Springfield on March 5, 1951, a daughter of Ararat and Nina Antachuk
Dawidjan, she was a 1969 graduate of Commerce High School there. She continued
her education and was a 1977 graduate of Holyoke Community College and went on to
earn a bachelor of arts degree in nutrition and home economics from the University of
Massachusetts at Amherst in 1979.
She was most recently employed as a demonstrator for Price Chopper Supermarkets. She had also been a home health aide for Berkshire Home Care and had been a meal site coordinator for Elder Services. In earlier years, she had worked in the kitchen at Fairview Hospital and had also worked for the WIC Program.
Mrs. McClelland was a member of Morningside Baptist Church where she was a
member of The Naomi Circle and a member of the Bible Study Fellowship. She enjoyed
singing her favorite hymns as solos.
She was also a member of the Senior Center where she enjoyed socializing
several days a week.
Mrs McClelland enjoyed cooking and gardening and was known for her pickles,
relishes, and conserves.
She also enjoyed traveling to Maine and Rhode Island, and being with family and
friends. Mrs. McClelland leaves her husband, Thomas G. McClelland, whom she married
in Pittsfield on February 11, 1984. They renewed their wedding vows on August 8, 2008,
in the Cheshire Baptist Church.
Besides her husband, Mrs. McClelland is survived by a son, Adam S. Copeland,
of Biddeford, Maine; a daughter, Esther R. Bolen and her husband, Jeremiah, of
Pittsfield; three brothers, Alexander Dawidjan of Spokane, Washington, Wresch
Dawidjan of Nashville, Tennessee, and Nick Dawidjan of Worcester; a sister, Anush
Dawidjan of Miami, Florida and Springfield, Massachusetts; three grandchildren, Caleb
Word, Tabatha Copeland, and Courtney Bolen; a niece, Tara Dawidjan, a nephew, Ryan
Dawidjan, and a great niece, Shelby Dawidjan; as well as her life-long friend, Vera
Thomas, and other friends, Bob and Lorraine Green, Jean White, Ron and Tammy
Charron, Alex and Mary Reid, and Norman and Nancy Gelinas.
She was pre-deceased by two brothers, Ararat Dawidjan and Sergay Dawidjan.

FUNERAL NOTICE: A memorial service for SHARON SIRUN McCLELLAND will be held in the
Spring at Morningside Baptist Church. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers,
contributions in memory of Mrs. McClelland may be made to Friends of Renal Dialysis
in care of DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford Street, Pittsfield.
