Obituary for Sharon D. Croughwell

Sharon D. Croughwell, 60, of 676 Old Windsor Road in Dalton died Friday at Bay State Medical Center in Springfield. Born on January 27, 1950 in Pittsfield, MA she was the daughter of the late Francis and Sarah Philbrick Guzzy. A longtime resident of Dalton, she was educated in Pittsfield and Dalton schools and graduated from Wahconah Regional High School in 1968. At the time of her death she was employed as an instrument technician at Crane & Company in Dalton where she has worked for the past twenty-eight years. Prior to working at Crane & Company she had been employed at Viale Florist in Pittsfield from 1975-1981. She was a communicant of St. Agnes Church and a past treasurer at the Berkshire Talking Chronicle where she volunteered for many years. An avid golfer, she was a member of the Wahconah Country Club and served as the co-chair of the Crane & Company Golf Tournament for many years. She enjoyed scuba diving, flying, horseback riding and following the Boston Red Sox. Her greatest joy was spending time with her children and grandchildren. She leaves two daughters; Kimberly A. Bachman and her husband Eric of Windsor Locks, CT and Jamie L. Sherman and her husband Robert of Bennington, VT. A son; David F. Croughwell and his wife Stephanie of Ewa Beach, Hawaii. Her brother; William Guzzy and his spouse, Theodore Devanski of Springfield, MA and Fort Lauderdale, FL and her five grandchildren; Sarah and Emily Bachman, Ethan Sherman and Jennifer and Patrick Croughwell. She also leaves her two special cousins; Ruth Kelly of Hinsdale and Pamela Turner of Dalton as well as her three nieces; Charlene Wyand of Pittsfield, Donna Moran of North Carolina and Joan Beverly of Florida, MA. She was predeceased by a brother, Richard Guzzy, late of Port St. Lucie, FL.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for Sharon D. Croughwell, 60, of Dalton who died February 12, 2010 will be held Wednesday at 9:15 AM from the DERY-FOLEY FUNERAL HOME in Dalton followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at St. Agnes Church celebrated by the Rev. Christopher Malatesta, pastor. Burial will follow in Ashuelot Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Tuesday from 4 to 8 PM at the Dery-Foley Funeral Home in Dalton. Memorial donations in memory of Sharon may be made to the Dalton Ambulance Fund in care of the funeral home, 890 Main St. Dalton, MA 01226.
