Sandra F. Carlson, 69, died Wednesday, February 15, 2023 at Berkshire Medical Center.
Sandi was born July 23, 1953 in Framingham, MA to Richard W. and Elizabeth A. (Hartland) Phillips. She was a proud Taconic High School graduate. Sandi continued her education at Pittsfield Vocational School of Practical Nursing, graduating in 1977 as a Licensed Practical Nurse. Sandi later graduated from Maria College earning her Registered Nursing certificate in 1997, all the while working and raising her beloved son, Jason.
Sandi worked as a dedicated nurse for more than 44 years at Hillcrest Hospital and Berkshire Medical Center. During her career Sandi also worked as a Medical Liaison at BMC. Throughout the years Sandi established many friendships with her co-workers who were like family to her.
Upon her retirement in 2018, Sandi continued to enjoy her love of crafting, interior design, decorating, reading, listening to music and long naps. She also loved watching her favorite baseball team, the Boston Red Sox. Sandi found great joy in hosting large family gatherings including birthday celebrations and Thanksgiving dinners. After her mother was no longer able to host Christmas Eve gatherings, Sandi who especially loved Christmas Eve continued the family tradition at her home.
Sandi also enjoyed vacationing in Hyannis on Cape Cod with her husband, David whom she married in 2005. They could often be found sitting along the canal of Cape Cod and at Hyannis Port Harbor where they enjoyed leisurely dinners at the Black Cat Tavern. Sandi and David also loved visiting the Nubble Lighthouse in Maine, content just to be together, strolling through little shops in search of tiny treasures.
Survivors include her sisters: Gail (Brian) Stack of Pittsfield, Cheryl (Clark) Gable of Lanesboro, Kim (Anthony) Stracuzzi of Pittsfield and Laura Burgess also of Pittsfield. Sandi also leaves her brothers: Wayne Taylor of Lee, Richard W. Phillips Jr. (Karen) of Middleboro and Jerome Jay Galvin of Pittsfield; her beloved granddaughter, Marissa Hatch (Phil Morine) of Richmond and her daughter in law, Jeanann Hatch of Hinsdale.

Hatch in 2002, and her infant brother, Jeffrey A. Galvin in 1966. Sandi also leaves many nieces and nephews that were very special to her. She will be greatly missed by her family, friends and many people whose path she crossed throughout her years as a nurse.
Graveside services will be held in the springtime, when the heart regrows hope. In lieu of flowers Sandi's family asks that you listen to your favorite music, read a great book, take a long nap and hold your loved ones close.
Sandi's family would like to thank the staff at BMC for their compassionate, loving care, of Sandi in her final days. A special thank you to her Nurse, Nixon for his compassion and care, helping Sandi transition from this earth to our heavenly father's arms.
