Sally “Chris” Richards, loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and sister, who loved to be called “Grammy” by her Grandchildren, passed away peacefully in her sleep on January 18, 2023.

Chris lost the will to go on after losing her husband Edward less than 2 months ago. Chris and Ed had celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary in 2022.

Daughter of George and Marjorie Waldheim, Chris was born December 6, 1936, in Pittsfield Mass. and was a lifelong resident of Hinsdale and Peru. A graduate of St. Josephs High School, Chris spent her professional career as a medical transcriptionist, business owner, business administrator, longtime Town of Peru Clerk, and was a communicant of Saint Agnes Church.

Chris was preceded in death by her husband Ed, and youngest son Steve, is survived by daughter Debbie Cahill and husband Kevin, Son Scott and wife Cyndie, loving brothers Gidge and life partner Deb, Bob and wife Ruth, 10 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and many other friends and family.

A combined celebration of life for Chris and Ed will be held in the spring, at the South Cemetery in Peru, for family members and close friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Agnes Church, in care of Dery-Foley Funeral Home 890 E. Main St., Dalton, Ma.
