Obituary for Ruth W. Passenant

Ruth W. Passenant, of Dalton, died on Friday, September 18, at Berkshire Place, four days
before her 100th birthday. The daughter of the late Theresa and Edward Bowley, she was born on September 22, 1915. She married George F. Passenant, on October 11, 1941. A long-time resident of the Astoria section of Queens, New York City, she and her husband moved to the Berkshires in 2000.
Before her marriage she worked at the Bulova Watch Company. After raising her children, she worked as an invoice clerk at the U.S. Department of Defense until her retirement in 1982. She was a member of the choir at Most Precious Blood Church in Astoria, enjoyed painting and music, and collected music boxes and Hummel's.
She is survived by two daughters, Roberta Passenant of Pittsfield, and Barbara Ross of Rockaway Beach, New York, and by one son, Donald Passenant, and his wife, Dianna Gatchell, of North East, Maryland; by two grandchildren, Dennis Ross and his wife, Ellen, of Derwood, Maryland, and Catherine Ross Cohen of Brooklyn, New York; and by one great grandchild, Kelly Cohen. She also leaves her sister, Florence Egan, of Rockville Centre, New York. She was predeceased by her husband who died on March 12, 2001; her sister, Virginia Schreider; her brother, Edward Bowley; and her son-in-law, Arthur Ross.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for Ruth W. Passenant, 99, of Dalton who died September 18, 2015 will be held Friday, September 25, 2015 with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at St. Agnes Church in Dalton celebrated by the Rev. Christopher Malatesta, pastor. Burial will follow in Ashuelot Cemetery in Dalton. Calling hours will be held Thursday from 4 to 6 PM at the DERY-FOLEY FUNERAL HOME, 890 Main Street, Dalton, MA 01226.
