Obituary for Ruth P. Kelly

Ruth P. (Sherman) Kelly, 84, passed away on April 24, 2024, at Wingate at Melbourne Place. She was born on January 19, 1940, in Pittsfield, MA, to Milton and Doris (Philbrick) Sherman. She was a resident of Hinsdale, MA, wintered in St. Petersburg, FL, and was a graduate of Pittsfield High School, class of 1957.

She was an author of a personal childhood story that was published in Wisdom of Our Fathers: Lesson from Daughters and Sons (2005), compiled by Tim Russert.

She started her career at Crane and Company as a mill secretary and retired in 2002, managing benefits in the Human Resources Department.

She married her husband, Ford D. Kelly, on May 26, 1992. She was predeceased by her sister, Marilyn (Sherman) Skowron, a brother, Milton Gasson and Sonny Sherman, a son, (Robert) David Ginthwain, and her former husband, Robert E. Ginthwain.

She is survived by 3 daughters, Kathy Buckley (Bruce), Robin Anastasio (John) and Kristine Haley (Derek), 7 grandchildren, John Anastasio, Jr. (Jacey), Nicholas Anastasio (Kelsey), Anthony Anastasio (Jade), Marco Anastasio (Bailley), Gaby King, Eli King (Jamie), David Haley (Carrie), and 10 great grandchildren.

Calling hours will be held, Monday, April 29, 2024 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at DERY-FOLEY FUNERAL HOME, 890 E. Main St. Dalton, MA. A celebration of life will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Community Recreation Center in Dalton, MA.
