Obituary for Russell Wigglesworth

Russell Wigglesworth passed away on February 10, 2016, surrounded by his family.
He was born in Pittsfield, Mass., on July 24, 1924, the son of the late Walter Wigglesworth and Madeline Hover in Pittsfield where he resided for his remaining years.
He graduated from Pittsfield High School Class of 1941 and married his high school sweetheart, Doris Rash, on February 6, 1943, and she died on August 25, 2009.
He joined the Army and served in World War II in France and England, and was discharged in 1946.
Then, he went to work at the General Electric Company as an assembler/wiring person for 34 years retiring in 1980. He was a member of the General Electric Quarter Century and Pensioners Clubs.
Russell was a devoted husband to his wife, Doris, and a wonderful father to his
daughters, Bonnie Valenti and her husband, Richard, and daughter, Karen Blanchard. Russell
was blessed with a grandson, Jason Valenti and wife Kara, and a granddaughter, Nichole
Garlock, and another granddaughter, Michelle Saunders and husband Andy. Adding more to his
wonderful life was becoming a great grandpa to his great grandsons, Kyle Valenti, Oliver, Nolan,
and Hayden Saunders, and his two great granddaughters, Taylor and Hailey Garlock. He is also
survived by a brother, Arthur, and his wife, Pat.
Russell was quite the handyman and derived great pride in taking care of his home, yard, and gardens. He was especially proud of his 1957 Ford Thunderbird which he cherished.
After retiring, Russell and Doris enjoyed traveling with friends to Hawaii, Alaska, Spain, and toured Europe. They enjoyed summer vacations at the Jersey shore with his children.
They also spent a number of winter vacations in Mississippi.
Russell was pre-deceased by his parents, Walter and Madeline, brothers, Melvin and
Wallace, and sister, Charlotte Wigglesworth.

FUNERAL NOTICE:
Funeral services for Russell Wigglesworth will be private. Burial will take place in Pittsfield Cemetery. There are no calling hours.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Russell may be made to Solider On of Pittsfield in care of the DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford Street, Pittsfield which is handling arrangements.
